It was good because the end was the opposit of the beginning. You have 2 read the book 2 see what I mean. I'd tell you, but that would ruin the ending - review by Rick, age 6

The book was too small. I wanted the regular size book which I had 2 go 2 a local retailer 2 get one due 2 its out-of-date production that Amazon does not carry. They should because this is a classic children's book.
Rating: 5 of 5 THE TALE OF A VERY PUSHY MOUSE!
This is the first offering of a wonderfully delightful series of like stories 4 children. IfYouGive a Mouse A Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff & illustrated by Felicia Bond tell the story, & the problems you might run into, ifyou should happen 2 give a overly active & demanding mouse a cookie. The story begins with a young boy innocently setting by his sidewalk in front of his house. A hungry mouse comes along & the problems begin.
This is a progressive type of tale, where one act of generosity keeps growing & growing. "Ifyougive a mouse a cookie, he's going 2 ask 4 a glass of milk. When yougive him milk, he'll probably ask you 4 a straw. When yougive him a straw, he will ask........." And it goes on & on & on until the poor kid pretty well has a completely trashed house & is exhausted trying 2 fulfill the escalating requests & the subsequent mess the requests ultimately cause. A pushy mouse & cookies, we find, are not a good combination!
The text is delightfully simple & keeps you turning the pages, page after page. You actually find you self wanting 2 see what the little rodent is going 2 ask 4 next. The story is simple & there is no bang, bang, crash crunch plot nor ending. The only problem I find in this aspect is that in this day & age, I find some children (and even more adults), who have the attention span of ferrets on coffee & if the story is in the least bit mellow, their minds simply cannot track. This is a minor problem though, if it is indeed a problem.
The art work by Felicia Bond is quite well done & goes perfectly with the text. The pictures are simple 2 understand, cute & quite eye catching. I liked them.
This is one of in a series of books by this team. Others include Ifyougive a Moose a Muffin, Ifyougive a Pig a Pancake, Ifyou take a Mouse 2 the Movies, Ifyou take a Mouse 2 School & Ifyougive a Pig a Party. All are as well done. I have noted in reading this book & others in the series that the kids love them & will always ask 4 repeat readings.

IfYouGive A Mouse A Cookie By Laura Joffe Numeroff
Illustrated by Felicia Bond
"Ifyougive a mouse a cookie, he's going 2 ask 4 a glass of milk."
One thing leads 2 another in this cute picture book. When you get finished with all of the mouse's requests, he may just want another glass of milk. And we all know what goes well with milk.

Who would ever suspect that a tiny little mouse could wear out an energetic young boy? Well, ifyou're going 2 go around giving an exuberantly bossy rodent a cookie, you'd best be prepared 2 do one or two more favors 4 it before your day is through. For example, he'll certainly need a glass of milk 2 wash down that cookie, won't he? And you can't expect him 2 drink the milk without a straw, can you? By the time our hero is finished granting all the mouse's very urgent requests--and cleaning up after him--it's no wonder his head is becoming a bit heavy. Laura Joffe Numeroff's tale of warped logic is a sure-fire winner in the giggle-generator category. But concerned parents can rest assured, there's even a little education thrown in 4 good measure: underneath the folly rest valuable lessons about cause & effect. Felicia Bond's hilarious pictures are full of subtle, fun details. Fans will be happy 2 know that this dynamic author-illustrator pair teamed up again 4 IfYouGive a Moose a Muffin & IfYouGive a Pig a Pancake. (Great read aloud, ages 4 2 8) --Emilie Coulter
