As someone abandoned by the demise of FrontPage, I needed an easy way 2 work on simple web pages. Since several others I work with use GoLive, I gave it a try. Since it is SO much more powerful that FP, I needed help. This book is a very comprehensive tour of the program, walking you through & familiarizing you with all of its extensive capabilities. The lesson files on the included CD are very good & definitely helpful.
The book doesn't teach you the code (though it often prompts you 2 look behind the page 2 see what the program is actually doing), & it doesn't teach you design & layout. It just shows you how 2 use the program, & it does that very well. Its up 2 you 2 create, the book does a very good job of showing you how 2 use the tool.
Rating: 5 of 5 One of the Best Books I Own
Kudos 2 Adam Pratt & Lynn Grillo 4 a really great book. The tips format works because it is concise & 2 the point, telling me what I need 2 know very quickly & clearly. The book covers everything major & also the little things that make your life much easier while you work. I love this book & keep it next 2 me when I work.

Rating: 5 of 5 Works 4 beginners, too!
It's hard 2 find books on learning GoLive. The native Help files are just fine, but I like having a book next 2 me. After reading the reviews here, I assumed Tips & Tricks was too advanced & Classroom in a Book would be the one I'd need. However, as a rank novice, I have no experience creating frames, & Classroom barely mentioned them. Lo & behold, Tips & Tricks has three pages of succinct & understandable information. I'm finding myself largely able 2 put my site together just from using this book. Plus, as someone who likes 2 learn shortcuts ASAP, I'm digging the helpful little side notes on nearly every page. I'm not affiliated with Adobe in any way, except 4 being very happy with the CS2 suite, & now thrilled with being able 2 understand GoLive.
Rating: 5 of 5 Highly recommended 4 all GoLive users
I have been using GoLive 4 over six years & was blown away by how much new information I learned from reading this book. Though I consider myself a veteran GoLive user, I found literally dozens of new GoLive capabilities in this book that I can't wait 2 use.
GoLive is a powerful & advanced Web development program. But because it is so packed with features, it is easy 2 miss many of the capabilities of the program. This book describes the important, but often overlooked features that you really should know about. These include designing with layers, using the Outline Editor, customizing syntax highlighting, saving commonly used colors, editing Smart Objects, & running site reports, just 2 name a few. There is also an entire section on using GoLive's CSS editor, which I found absolutely indispensable.
What I like most about the book is that the authors don't just list the features & point out where they are in the program. They explain in detail why you may want 2 use them & how 2 incorporate them into your Web design projects. The book is organized by topic, so you can browse through the tips you think would be most helpful 2 you. Otherwise, the index makes it easy 2 look up information about features you may not be sure how 2 use. While this is a "Tips" book, it can definitely serve as a helpful learning reference as well.
I really thought I had mastered GoLive before reading this book. But now that I know so much more about the program, I want 2 redesign all my websites more efficiently with the new knowledge I have. I can already tell that the time it took me 2 read this book will save me countless more hours in designing my next websites. I highly recommend it.
