The book's quality is made well. The art work most colorful & fits well with the movie & gives a great visual adventure 4 parent & child 2 share a holiday favorite in the cold winter season of Christmas. A book 2 indeed have each year 2 make a tradition.
Rating: 5 of 5 A Family Tradition
My uncle gave me this book as a gift many years ago. I loved the fact that it came with a cassette (read by William Hurt) & it even has a little bell just like the boy in the story. This story is probably my absolute favorite Christmas book. I am buying it 4 my Nephew 2 pass on the tradition.
Rating: 5 of 5 Another outstanding Van Allsburg treat!
What can one say about an illustrator like Van Allsburg? The Polar Express is almost not a children's story but 4 the child with a vivid imagination (and may there still be a few in existence!!) they will identify with the little boy who travels in his dreams by the Polar Express. I know they have mad an animated film of this book & done it well but it really is more a nostalgia trip 4 adults. I have never seen a Van Allsburg done badly they are always incredible books & I would love 2 own the lot. Highly recommended!
Rating: 5 of 5 Excellent
We read this book as a family on Christmas Eve two years ago 4 the first time. I love the pictures & the story. A firm believer of Santa, I had encouraged my kids 2 believe in him. In a world so hard & sometime cold, a book like this one is needed 2 remind us that there is good in this world & it usually come out stronger in the holiday season.

Rating: 5 of 5 Sparked My Imagination
This is one of my most cherished books from childhood. I always wished that a train would pull up 2 my house one night & whisk me away 2 see Santa Claus. The illustrations are wonderful as well. Around Christmas time I still like 2 make some hot chocolate & sit down & re-read this book.
A magical train ride on Christmas Eve takes a boy 2 the North Pole 2 receive a special gift from Santa.
One couldn't select a more delightful & exciting premise 4 a children's book than the tale of a young boy lying awake on Christmas Eve only 2 have Santa Claus sweep by & take him on a trip with other children 2 the North Pole. And one couldn't ask 4 a more talented artist & writer 2 tell the story than Chris Van Allsburg. Allsburg, a sculptor who entered the genre nonchalantly when he created a children's book as a diversion from his sculpting, won the 1986 Caldecott Medal 4 this book, one of several award winners he's produced. The Polar Express rings with vitality & wonder.
