Just another dummy book. This one is okay I guess, but not as good as the others that I have read. Too much of the goofy stuff that is really not needed, even 4 dummies......unless you are really into goofy reading material. I like a little humor in anything, but less would have been more in this one!

This is such a great book. You really can be a dummy & you will still learn everything you need 2 know about WORD. Ditto 4 Dan Gookin's book on PCs 4 Dummies. Mr. Gookin's books are extremely well organized & excellently written, but the thing I love most about them is the humor. They really are funny & that is a big boon 2 the reader, especially one who dreads dry instruction. I read this book cover 2 cover & it has saved me hours of pain at the computer.

I just switched 2 Word2007. I found that the terms 4 commands had changed so that I had 2 read the whole book in order 2 find what I wanted because I could not always find the term I was familiar with in the index. The book does cover most of what is needed in order 2 use Word2007. I can't fault the writers 4 the changes that Microsoft made in their belief that they were making the program simpler 2 use.

It doesn't answer the nasty pagination problem I encountered. Word would stop numbering pages after a couple in a file, go back 2 the previous page & renumber it incorrectly, then not number the ones after it consecutively just keep placing the same number on each page, etc. There appears 2 be no way 2 number pages except in headers or footers either, as far as WORD FOR DUMMIES indicates, as best I can tell. There were one or two other places WORD FOR DUMMIES turned out 2 be clueless, too; but it's better than nada. Word is vastly inferior word processing software. WordPerfect is much better. Writers I know despise Word, & curse having 2 use it because publishing adopted it as the standard 4 submissions. It is a shame it was adopted so widely, apparently by executives in companies who were sold a bill of goods about it by Microsoft, when they would never have 2 actually use it. Pretty typical executive behavior--making decisions about various office systems their underlings will have 2 use without actual facts.
