Pokemon Sapphire

Even though I have gotten older I still find the pokemon games 2 be a lot of fun. I love the old RBY & GS games & I found that Pokemon Sapphire was no let down. I have really enjoyed playing this new addition 2 the pokemon series & look forward 2 finishing it soon. Sapphire's layout seems a lot like the original RBY games & at times you get the feeling that you have done this all before. Overall, it is a wonderful game & I highly recommend it 2 any fan of the pokemon series.

I bought this game as a present 4 my son. I was pleased with how quickly the item got 2 my house & mostly how easy it was 2 order on line. I will continue 2 order his games this way.

I have 2 say, compared 2 the other pokemon games such as Crystal & the very first ones this game isn't too bad. I'm about half way through the game & it has a lot of the same concepts. Not a lot of familiar pokemon though & as far as I know, none of the original three, Bulbasaur, Charmander, & Squirtle are in there either. You start as a different character & I gotta say that's not bad but overall the game is fun but it gets a little too much like the same old.

Pokémon Sapphire's updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species--as well as its faithful adherence 2 the existing series of Pokémon games--makes 4 a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pokémon games Silver, Gold, & Crystal. For example, players can choose 2 be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, & the game's handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. You're main goal is still 2 beat all the Gym Trainers & become the Pokémon Master. If you've played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.

A whole new element 2 the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them 2 a Berry Blender & make a PokéBlock, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pokémon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon 4 regional contests & compete 4 ribbons like "Best of Show," which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how 2 best use your berries: pick too many & the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, & a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pokémon Sapphire has a kickin' multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokémon, & link up 2 four players 4 incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh
