After installing new HD 2 replace original 40G HD - installed using Seagate Disk Wizard the image file of original drive - system booted up & recognized 80G HD. Very smooth operation!
Note - my original HD was almost full - hence need 4 new one - but part of problem was the automatic IBM backups that was using a lot of HD space - once deleted the backups - more room on new HD.
Rating: 5 of 5 Very satisfied with this harddrive
Installed this harddrive, formatted it & installed the operating system without any difficulty. No BIOS error messages.
Functions as well as my previous 60 GB 7200 rpm drive.
I'm delighted.
Rating: 3 of 5 Can only be installed by pros
As a pc enthusiast, but not a professional, I thought I wouldn't have a problem installing this drive. However the drivers are available only on a floppy disk (something that many of us no longer have drives 2 read), thus this item, however good, is really only intended 4 professionals who are qualified 2 configure PC's from the ground-up. Just a word 2 the wise.
Increase your harddrive capacity with a larger primary system harddrive of ThinkPad X30/X31, T, R & A Series notebooks or add a second HDD 2 the system via the Ultrabay 2000 in the T20/30, R30/40 & A Series ThinkPad Dock II & UltraBase X3 media slice. Or, 4 use with the 2nd HDD Adapter 4 Ultrabay Slim in the T40 & R50 Series & the X4 Ultrabase Dock. Not supported as a primary harddrive in the ThinkPad X40 Series.
