God Of The Balance Beam
Where 2 start? Well, God of War is a very over-rated game. It has it's high points but overall it will leave you frustated & screaming "I hate this game!" at the top of your lungs.
While the title is filled with some highly stylized & fun action, it never really develops & you end up fighting the same enemies over & over again. They evolve but they don't become more of a challenge, they just become more annoying as you are continuously stunned while you mash the opposition.
However, the fighting is NOT the low-point of this game. The game, boiled down, is little more than a gymnastics competition with more floor displays than a 12 year-old(*Ahem* 16, right?) Chinese gymnast; minus the talent & entertainment. Level-designs do not advance or become anything better. You are constantly forced 2 walk along planks high up in the air while evading moronic things like spinning blades or climbing up moving walls littered with spikes. What happens? Well, you end up spending hours falling down, dying, & (here's where the screaming comes in) yelling at the TV.
The end boss fight is particularly horrible. In typical Power Rangers fasion, you morph into a giant 2 face off against Ares 4 the title of God of War. I couldn't help but wonder where the Megazord was. To be fair the fight is challenging, but not in a fun way.
In conclusion, there are some beautiful visuals, a decent story, & some stylish combat. However, this does not over come the repetitive action & horrible level design that ultimately dooms the title.
Bottomline: God of War is not the game it's hyped up 2 be.

BITING THE BLADES OF CHAOS
Basically you are a power hungry Spartan general named Kratos who sells his soul 2 "Ares" the god of war in return 4 victory.Driven by rage you conquer anyone loyal 2 the goddess Athena until one incident sets you on the path 2 your true destiny, you must destroy the God of War.To succeed you must fight legions of cyclops',undead soldiers,Minotaurs & countless other mythological beasts in places such as Athens,Pandoras temple & even Hades itself. The story sucks you in & feels like an actual Greecian epic. With the aid of the Gods & the lust 4 vengeance 2 drive you on,God of War is one hard hitting/mind blowing gaming epic that's not 2 be missed. If you like your action over the top/angry & insist on a good story then look no further because God of War has it all.

Greatest Action Adventure Game I Have Ever Played
God Of War is so much fun, from the gameplay mechanics, 2 watching the beautiful cinematics. As a Legend Of Zelda fan, I would have 2 say this game greatly exceeds any Zelda game I have ever played.

Ok maybe not THAAAT much, but if I was 2 rate Ocarina Of Time a 10, God Of War would be a 9. The storyline greatly exceeds any Zelda game, it is no contest. The only reason I would rate it below Zelda is because of the length of the game. A Zelda game could take me weeks, or months 2 finish. God Of War only took me 3 days

Both cathartic & enraging.
God of War is an accessible & brutal combo-based action game, with puzzles & light platforming sprinkled throughout 2 keep the pacing even. It looks great, sounds great, & feels great. It is the game you slip into your Playstation 2 when you want 2 let off some steam & direct your violent tendencies 2 unwitting digital victims.

God of War is also somewhat unbalanced. The epic nature of the opening moments against the vicious Hydra -- a large screen-filling boss creature -- repeats only a handful of times more throughout the game. As cathartic as the action is, as much finesse as you can put into your deliciously painful combination strikes, some (but thankfully not too many) areas devolve into mindless hacking akin 2 Dynasty Warriors or Diablo.

God of War also has very small design issues. Environmental obstacles such as anchored razor blades have collision detection that is too wide. Did that blade just come in contact with you? No, but you'll lose some health anyway & perhaps plummet down 2 the bottom of the pillar you were trying 2 climb. Are you a warrior capable of double-jumping & twisting creatures' necks with your legs while climbing a horizontal rope hand-over-hand? Sure, all-powerful one -- but have fun trying 2 balance like a nervous rookie gymnast when you walk across those beams. That camera is mostly great, but every once in awhile, you're sure 2 kick the television when an unexpected angle-shift sends you plummeting 2 your death when jumping around. Oh, & don't ask about the final boss battle that is as tedious as it is epic in presentation.

God of War, then, is not perfect. But it is a game that should be played by any action fan. It's not the most challenging thing out there, & certainly can't hold a candle 2 Ninja Gaiden Black in terms of technique, but it's got plenty of style, some neat weapon & magic upgrades, a whole swath of interesting enemies, & simply fantastic production values. It makes it easy 4 you 2 feel like a totally unstoppable force, but it also (most of the time) makes you feel like you actually did something instead of just watching it happen.

...but guess what: The sequel is better.

God of War gives you the chance 2 live out the adventures of a single Spartan warrior in ancient Greece. Follow Kratos as he uses the powers granted by the Gods 2 slaughter his former allies & track down Pandora's Box. This legendary artifact is his only hope 2 complete his quest: Killing Aries, the Greek god of war!
