Best computer I have ever had
I have had this computer 4 7 months & I still think it is the best purchase I have ever made. It is beautiful, efficient, & FAST! Never has the computer "locked up" on me, crashed, given me cryptic error messages, or taken more than a few seconds 2 open a file. My ONLY wish is 4 a two button mouse, as I still have 2 work on a clunky Dell at the office, I have never fully adapted 2 the one button mouse. This is a good, quality product that will last years. I purchased a video iPod shortly afterwards & I just love how the two products work together seamlessly.

Not just 4 techno geeks
The iMac G5 is an excellent computer 4 both the novice & the techno geek. Their ads are not just hype. It really is out of the box easy 2 use & with the assortment of usable software that comes with the G5, it will meets the needs of most users. The iPhoto combined with my digital camera is great. A zippy dependable machine that doesn't require constant updates, patches, & restarts. I use both PCs & Macs but this is the computer I chose 4 my home. My iMac is a useful tool rather than a time draining frustration.

Switch? Whatever.
Just purchased an iMac 17" 2.0 GHz with an upgraded RAM of 1.5GB. I'm a photographer who decided 2 switch 2 Apple because of their reputation of stability & ability 2 handle graphics quickly. Was I wrong.

I tried downloading images in a JPEG format that were approximately 2 MB in size. It required almost 5-7 sec per image vs. my buddies 4 year old Dell 1.8GHz with 256 MB RAM doing it at appoximately 2 sec/image. The computer also continued 2 crash if I tried operating other applications during this process. Next day tried 2 make a book with the iPhoto application. Repeated crashes. Had 2 open & close the program 2 save each change while working on my project. This added painful hours 2 my workflow. Additionally, you can not view thumbnails of your images in the file folder. Couldn't figure out why this feature was missing.

The worst thing was the service. I called the shop that I purchased it from & they offered no solution 2 the speed problem. "At least the CD downloaded completely" was their answer. The most painful aspect was that they deferred the store's sales policy 2 whatever Apple dictated. Ridiculous. I don't buy a product from Amazon & expect 2 be directed 2 the manufacturer of the product should any concerns arise.

I was told by a sales person that at the time of purchase that I was entitled 1 service call 2 Apple 4 first 90 days of my purchase. After that call or after that time period, the calls would be charged $60/call. Be wary of the limited support.

If you're gonna switch, understand that there is limited support 4 you compared 2 other PC companies.

I was so disgusted with the service & product that I returned my mac & paid the 15% restocking fee that they charged. I essentially paid Apple 2 take back their product.

If you've had positive experiences with this product, congratulations. I wish I shared that same experience.

Beautiful Machine
I absolutely love this computer. I bought it from the Apple Store in early July & could not be happier. In the three years before buying this computer I owned two laptops which spent more time being sent 2 HP's tech support (in all that time I never once encountered someone who spoke English fluently) than they did being used. I may never find out what Apple's tech support is like because this computer has no problems whatsoever.

I have the base model, which does not include the superdrive. The iLife suite covers all your basic needs with programs that work well, a big improvement over the junk which tends 2 come on windows.

Another hugely useful feature is dashboard. Go on the widgets page on [...] 2 see the many useful widgets you can download & access by hitting F12. The function keys are generally well used by Apple. F9 shows you all your open windows, F10 shows you all the windows open in a particular application & F11 minimizes all the windows.

Another thing that I love is that basically anything can be simply plugged in & used. You don't usually need 2 install anything. This made the switch much faster, since I didn't have 2 reinstall programs 4 my digital camera, printer, etc. It also connected 2 my school's network instantly, whereas most PC users had many more troubles.

But the final reason I love my Mac is how pretty it is. It just looks great on my desk. When people see it, they compliment me on my nice moniter, & are always surprised when I tell them it's the entire computer.

Overall, I definitly recommend this computer.

Greater Product.. Looks Even Better!
I just bought my Imac G5 17" model & has been wonderful so far. It is the sexiest computer I've ever seen. It works like a charm. You never get those dreaded blue screens that you OFTEN get on pcs. Their 90% less likely 2 get a viruse. I mean come on what more could you want. Wait a beautiful screen, with even better programs on it. I mean no pcs give you as many programs as the imac does with its iLife software. This Machine is wonderful & I suggest that everyone goes out & gets one of these if there look 4 a new system. Also there are so easy 2 switch over from pcs. This is my first Apple & i learned how 2 use it in no time. !!!!!!!!! Best Item I've Ever Purchased!!!!

What if you could fit your whole life - all your music, all your photos, all your movies, all your email - in a computer as fun & useful as an iPod? Now you can.
