SummitStrike is 2 GhostRecon2 as Island Thumder is 2 GhostRecon 1. There all about the same...The main thing I like about the GhostRecon games are the "save anywhere" ability (and it saves instantly). The pacing moved up a bit from the GR1 games 2 GR2 games & up again in GRAW...
Rating: 5 of 5 GR2 Freak
I have been playing GhostRecon since the 1st one came out, they have gotten better every time, up until the Advanced warfighter game 4 the original Xbox. SummitStrike is awesome, it's the best game that there is 4 Xbox, if you like first shooter military style games
Rating: 4 of 5 Good Sequel
I have played GhostRecon since the beginning & they keep getting better & better. As far as new features, this game doesn't have a whole lot, but the gameplay is the same great shooter as the previous games. This game is quite a bit harder than the previous GhostRecon2, but with strategy it is beat-able. A must have 4 the GhostRecon fan.
Rating: 5 of 5 EXCELLENT GAME
Ok, first off let me get one thing straight: I am not a kid. I am 15 years old.
Ok, this game is one of my all time favorite games. It has outstanding graphics, music, & gameplay. The single player campaign is fun & challenging, & allows you 2 go back & play a level that you have already beaten a second time on a different mode besides Campaign. The game features OVER 60 different weapons (such as the SCAR-L carbine, SCAR-H rifle, AK-47 assault rifle, MSG-90 sniper rifle, M-16, etc). The gameplay is really realistic in it's "one shot kill". This means that you are capable of taking out an opponent with a single shot 2 the head. However, this works both ways, meaning that if your opponent is able 2 get a head shot on you, you are dead regardless of how much health you have left over. I found this made the game very fun, & required you 2 use your mind just as much as your gun. However, more straightfoward gamers may find themselves frustrated with this aspect of the game, especially Halo or Battlefront gamers who love dual wielding SMGs. The game requires just as much stealth as it does any other aspect. The Multiplayer is fun, especially on Cooperative, which is EXTREMELY hard. The fun thing on co-op is that it allows four players 2 work as a team 2 complete campaign missions. The Versus isn't that great if you have less than four people, because of the massive size of most of the maps (you spend most of your time looking 4 each other on the map), though on Xbox Live with 16 players i'm sure it is quite fun.
The game is in Third & (optionally) First Person (except on multiplayer, where it is always on First Person). One fun thing is the realism of how the weapons work. In GR2:SS, most of the weapons have various different modes of fire (single, burst, & auto, although burst is rare on most weapons), which allows the player 2 be able 2 shoot accurately on single shot or 2 lay down a hail of bullet on auto (it should be noted that full automatic fire drains you magazine in a matter of seconds).
I found GR2:SS 2 be an extremely fun & very challenging game, but I would not reccommend it 2 people who prefer a more Halo, Doom, or Grand Theft Auto style of play.
Rating: 3 of 5 It's no Island Thunder
Again, just like GR2, this game did not thrill me. I must admit that it was better than the plain old GR2, but it still (in my opinion) wasn't the best. It didn't give me that great "ghostrecon" type of feel that I was really looking forward to. I played GhostRecon & Island Thunder so much & I guess I was just let down with this game. I mostly played the multiplayer portion & got bored very quickly with the single player game.
GhostRecon2: SummitStrike is a military based First Person shooter available 4 the Xbox. Although GhostRecon games have been solely First Person view in the past, this game also has an over the shoulder (3rd person) view available. This is the first thing that really discouraged me about the game. I 4 one love the first person view & when playing over xbox live, the OTS view gives opponents a very big advantage over someone like myself who plays using the FP view. In my opinion, there should have only been one view available so that this advantage never came into play. The graphics in the game are very good 4 their time. They were like a polished version of what GR2 had 2 offer, so nothing that new in this department.
The single player game, 2 me, felt very slow & boring. I know it is a tactical shooter, but it still felt overly slow. The game also felt repetitive 2 me, but this was mostly due 2 the gameplay. I would not suggest this game 2 anyone looking 4 a fun single player experience. The multiplayer game, on the other hand, is in my opinion the only reason 2 purchase this game. It was an "ok" experience 2 me, only because I found it far different from GhostRecon Island Thunder - the ghostrecon I was used 2 playing. For most people, however, the multiplayer experience was a lot of fun. There are about 20 or so maps available & 24 (I think) gametypes 2 choose from.
GhostRecon2: SummitStrike is a fantastic new peek into the world of the Ghosts, offering new levels & new gameplay 4 fans of military & shooter action. Travel 2 Kazakhstan, a Central Asian republic on the brink of chaos. When the Kazakh President is murdered by a Pakistani warlord trying 2 conquer the country, the Ghosts team up with UN forces & head in 4 the hunt.
