Caillou Ready for School (PC & Mac)

This software capitalizes on the popularity of "Caillou" with a basic product.

This game works better on a PC; on a Mac it's difficult 2 install & quits unexpectedly.

For preschoolers who enjoy playing computer games, this game might be very basic.
I would say it's 4 ages 2 2 a young 3 yr old, but ironically that age may have trouble navigating through the game. The game pages are very basic & repetitious (e.g., the same picture is uncovered over & over; games repeat themselves which kids might quickly find boring).

Even on our PC we found the game 2 run fairly slow. All in all, there's much better software out there.

I bought this 4 my 3 year old son 4 his birthday in November. He's already a little obsessed with Caillou so I figured this would be a great way 2 encourage him 2 learn a little more using a character he already loves. Boy, has this gone above & beyond what I expected. He loves it, whole heartedly. He asks 2 play when he gets up & since he can start it on his own using the short cuts on the desktop of the computer, he can choose which one he wants 2 play. It doesn't take intricate mouse work (no dragging & dropping) so those little hands can quickly learn 2 do even that on their own. Recently he has taken 2 switching the language & playing everything in Spanish, which is fun.

These games are engaging, easy 2 understand & learn & so beautifully put together. All the favourite Caillou characters are there, including Rexy & Teddy, Leo, Clementine & Sarah!

I would highly recommend this product 2 anyone, it's just brilliant. I'm going 2 be buying the Caillou Ready 2 Read cd's as well!

Oh, I forgot 2 mention the great flash cards that come with the cd's. They're also full of all of the Caillou characters, are brightly coloured & full of fun pictures & colours. My 3 year old goes through them repeatedly, first because he liked 2 find people & now because he can name every letter, colour & number on every card!

I was very pleased with this product,the price was amazing 4 over 100 different activities.Shipment was fast.

The game wont install on a Mac running OSX... Therefore, its not true that the game is Mac compatible.

I bought from best buy where box listed 4 $19.95 but rang up $9.95. The games are age appropriate. Could have used simple gaming tricks 4 more variety which is why not 5 stars. The activity sheets are very good. Two sets of flash cards 4 numbers 1-100 & upper case & lower case alphabet were unexected & extremely helpful 4 kindergarten prep. I sit with my child while he's on the computer so whether he can read or not 2 follow the directions is not an issue. However if your comparing 2 Candy Land like games which a young child can do entirely on their own, the Caillou does need adult supervision.
