The best "WARGAME" ever.
The answer 2 all true wargamers dreams. All the action of an RTS with all the control of a turn-based game. The units are modeled beautifully & act realistically (after you learn 2 use them) ... Perfect!

Lots of fun but very stratigical
This game is a very fun game but it is not a game 4 you if you don't like srategy games. The game invloves lots of strategy & can prove frustruating from time 2 time but overall the game is lots of fun 2 play.

Not too bad 4 a S&T game.
I got in a bit of a mood after watching HBO's Band Of Brothers & wanted 2 blow up some bad guys so I picked up the original version of Blitzkrieg. After a few weeks & running out of missions I picked up this boxed Anthology...obviously there's some fun & addiction built into the premise & mechanics of the game. Having now played both BK & BK2, I prefer the over-all nature of this, the original. The controls & graphics are more natural & intuitive in this anthology. With Blitzkrieg 2, they've changed some of the controls around, causing a few curses 4 those familiar with the original, plus BK2's graphics suddenly seem less realistic & more pastel in colour...go figure.

I can only give this game 4 stars, however. After a while you notice repetition in layout & can guesstimate quite accurately the layout of enemy positions (you begin shelling the heck out of that cliff face just down the road from your camp at the beginning of every mission just because you know there's anti-tank guns on it). I suppose this would have happened in real life 2 some extent if you knew an opposing general's mannerisms, but probably not 2 the extent you get used 2 them in this game. The enemy attacks aren't well coordinated either. Bad guy tanks will attack more in single file, rather than abreast 2 concentrate more fire on your positions. Little things like this make the game less than 'realistic', but what it lacks in that department it makes up 4 in becoming more a relaxing beer & pretzels kind of fun, which I enjoy. I have fun using the 'c' button on infantry units (splitting them up from formation 2 individual movement) & moving them in 2 villages covering each-other & flushing out enemy positions which tanks & artillery can fire upon, I seem 2 recall this feature being dropped in BK2, which was annoying. Which brings me 2 one of the major negatives of the franchise...the add-on 'Mission Kursk' 4 the BK anthology.

Even with BK2 there was a general similarity with difficulty & capabilities of individual units. I expected Mission Kursk 2 give me the same playability as other BK missions. HA! They've changed the whole mechanics of the game & the 'fun' gamelike atmosphere is completely diminished. If you want the aggravation of being fired upon by artillery with no chance of returning fire, attacks by enemy aircraft with no chance 2 bring in your own air defense, weapon ranges doubled, character movement slowed down, snipers no longer being 'invisible'...all the headaches & hair-pulling of actual war, then Mission Kursk is your game. I bring this up because you will want more missions after playing this BK anthology, however Mission Kursk is frustration, not fun. Unfortunately, I have no info about Green Devils & Operation Barbarossa, but I'm hoping the game mechanics haven't been messed with in those missions as well because I really would like 2 play more, just based on the ORIGINAL mechanics. You shouldn't mess with a good thing.

Decent Game For the Money
The artificial inteligence was a little "dumb," other than that the game was just OK.

Excellent WWII RTS game
I gave the game 4 stars as I originally purchased 4 online play with friends. Latency issues make the game unplayable (we havent had an opportunity 2 play lan yet).
However in single player mode, the game is very fun.
The graphics are vivid & remind me of Sacred. The controls are easy 2 learn, & most carry from one unit 2 the next.
The game comes on 5 cd's. the first 2 are Blitkreig, the next 2 are expansion packs, & the last is a special expansion pack.
The missions are reletively short with a limited battle field.
Terrain comes into play quite well. For example I had a scout/sniper crawling through some brush & his view of the enemy would flicker as it would if he was in actual brush.
You do not get 2 purchase new units like in Command & Conquer series, so you have 2 make good with what you are given.
As far as I can tell all weapon types from WWII 4 each given faction are present in the game.
I do recommend this game if you like real time strategy. Its easy 2 learn & quite extensive.

Blitzkrieg Anthology brings together 3 great WWII games & their add-ons, 4 realistic tactical action as you fight 4 victory!
