Canon DC20 2.2 MP DVD Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom

I own this camera/camcorder, & the first thing you notice is that it is absolutely gorgeous. It's color is two-toned & it is a well-made quality product from Canon. It's very small in size & takes the place of both a camera & camcorder, which makes it convenient 2 travel with.

It uses mini DVD's 4 videoing & a mini SD card 4 photos. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy 2 use & easy 2 switch back & forth between camera & camcorder.

My videos & photos come out crisp, clear & in true-life colors. I can very easily transfer my videos & photos 2 regular DVD's using my Sony DVD recorder or a computer DVDRW drive.

My only complaint & the reason 4 the 4 stars instead of 5, is the battery's charge is not long enough which requires you 2 always keep a spare on hand. You can charge the battery in the device, but I bought a spare charger 2 charge without using the camera.

I have never had a problem with this camera/camcorder.

When I bought the unit, I loved it. Then after recording many items onto a disk, the disk became unreadable. Oh, my first use of memorex media. I switched back 2 old reliable TDK. Nope. It wrote a whole disk of recordings, but cannot reliably read them, nor can I transfer them 2 a computer or play the disk on a DVD player. It stoped working, was expensive, is not that old, & I don't know what 2 do.

Nice item 2 have with you.. with amazon it is really steal deal..

Pros:
1.Camcorder is very easy 2 operate.
2.Has most of the option 2 capture video/photo - Auto, pre-progrmmed.
3.Has manual control 2 explore more.
4.Video quality is excellent & can be viewed in 21" Screen with clear picture.
Cons:
1. Battery life is less if you use display & zoom
2. The Roxio software gives problem while downloading. So better go 4 some other software. Even i am searching 4 the suitable software.
3.As the picture is only a 2MP, it is not must suitable 4 photos. but reasonable quality can be achieved with 2MP.

AT FIRST THIS CAMERA LOOKED LIKE THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK. COOL LOOK. HIGH RESOLUTION. ALL THE FEATURES I WAS LOOKING FOR. WHEN I OPENED THE BOX I WAS AMAZED AS TO HOW SMALL IT WAS. IT HAS A COOL LOOK AND A COMPACT DESIGN.

MY OPNINION CHANGED AFTER JUST 30 MINUTES OF USE WHEN THE CAMERA HEATED UP SO MUCH THAT I COULD HARDLY HOLD ON TO IT. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS COOKING FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

I TOOK SOME VIDEO. LOOKED VERY SHARP AND THE RESOLUTION WAS GREAT. DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE SOUND. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING WITH THE VIDEO ON MY COMPUTER I BECAME SO FRUSTRATED THAT I KNEW I WOULD HAVE RETURN THE CAMERA THE NEXT DAY. AFTER YOU TAKE A VIDEO YOU HAVE TO FINALIZE THE DISC BEFORE YOU CAN TRANSFER THE FILE TO THE COMPUTER. OK, FINE....NOT A BIG DEAL, UNLESSS IT TAKES 3 HOURS TO FINALIZE. THEN WHEN IT GETS TO THE COMPUTER THE SOFTWARE THE CAMERA GIVES YOU IS SO HORRIBLE THE FILE BECOME USELESS.

IF YOU READ THE MANUAL IT WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE THE PROGRAM PROVIDED TO GET THE VIDEO OFF THE CAMERA AND INTO THE COMPUTER. IF YOU FINALIZE THE DISC AND JUST PUT IT INTO THE CUMPTERS DVD DRIVE YOU CAN EDIT IT FROM THERE. OK, FINE...IF THERE WAS A PROGRAM KNOWN TO MAN THAT CAN EDIT VR FILES. MAN, THIS WAS A FRUSTRATION.

FINALLY, AFTER ALL OF THIS THE CAMERA BECAME SO OVER HEATED THAT IT FRIED OUT AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. IF YOU ARE INTO WAISTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY THEN THIS IS THE RIGHT CAMERA FOR YOU.
