Sanyo Xacti VPC-C6 6MP MPEG4 Digital Camcorder w/5x Optical Zoom

I think a lot of people underestimate this camera, i bought this 4 250.00 at radio shack around Christmas of 2007 on sale, also the display. The warranty was about 55.00 dollars 4 two years. I think that a lot of users just don't know how 2 use this camera. If you go into the settings & change the filters, or image size or even the mode, auto,fireworks, sports, etc. I typically use the sports setting making picture virtually clear. Also when taking a picture you slightly press in on the camera button do the green box shows up, there's no flash delay. I love taking pictures with the Black & white filter with the sports setting,the sports setting allows no blurriness. Pictures look professional & a lot people ask me where i get my pictures done. When outside take off the flash, let the sun do it 4 you. The video setting lets you upgrade your picture setting 2 HD-quality. People need 2 just have fun & explore this camera. Like I said before, this camera is so underestimated.

I bought this camera because I was hoping 4 a small, portable camcorder that would also take okay pictures. I brought it on a family beach vacation 4 a week & returned it as soon as I got back. First of all, I should have tried the water resistant/proof model instead - I don't know what I was thinking. The camcorder & the camera are both pretty good in sunlight/outdoor situations. They pretty much stink indoors or if you need 2 use the flash. The camera response time is sooooooo slow, especially with a flash. The still pictures are so blurry indoors that the subject looks transparent. It produces too many video files 2 manage easily (this is my first digital camcorder so this may be the case with all of them but boy is it cumbersome because you have 2 watch each file 2 know what is in it - there is no thumbnail picture 2 help you out). Also, the files are not compatable with windows movie maker which I have been using 4 a while & am comfortable with. I think you are better off getting a good digital still camera that takes video 4 now until this form factor can be improved.

I bought this camera after using a Sony MiniDV (very small one) camera over 8 years. The image quality of Sanyo is horrible compared 2 my old Sony under any condition: daylight, night etc. However price, size & easy operation makes this camera a winner as you can have it with you all the time. So if you want 2 use this camera as a second camera 4 everyday use go 4 it, but this is not a serious replacement 2 a high-end camcorder.

Delivery of camera was very prompt. Camera was what I expected, I am very pleased with it's portability, & usefulness. Sanyo support of the VPC-C6 camera is great with Sanyo Firmware Update Downloads. Thanks!

I read the reviews & thought I'd still give it a try.

After one battery charge, I was "lucky" enough 2 have a defective unit - the camera wouldn't start again after the first charge.

My observations from that first short use were:
- Quality of pictures was very poor (my Pentax Optio 4mp camera takes better quality photos) -- very disapointing 4 a 6mp camera.
- The flash was generally useless, & actually hurt quality
- The camera was very uncomforable if you don't have very small hands. My wrist hurt after using it 4 20 minutes.
- The video was ok, but the focus was very slow (and noisy).
- I had the same problem as several others -- that the camera died shortly afer getting it (shows very poor quality).

All-in-all don't waste your money. You can get a much better camera at a lower price.
