they must have been out of the squared off silver one, because the one i received in the mail is blue & rounded. i put a picture of what i got in the pictures section at the top of the page. it came with a silver string/necklace thing that looks pretty lame. The little keychain ring seams flimsy, & i don't trust it. otherwise, the case seems sturdy enough, & seals very tightly. i like that you can see some of the circuitry through the plastic once it is open.

average write speeds & whatnot.

i give it four stars because the price is pretty hard 2 beat.

This is an excellent device 4 backup of data. It surpasses any CD, DVD, or disk drive. I highly recommend it.

It works fine, I have Portable Apps, installed on it in addition 2 Open Office.

I bought this 2 replace my old 256MB (still working despite extensive abuse) thumb drive. Well, I've had it 4 about a month now & it's dead. In the course of one afternoon it went from loading up every time I put it in a computer 2 being "An unrecognized device" in every computer I put it into (it was a gradual process over a couple hours strangely enough). This is the first product I've ever bought from dane electric, & it will surely be the last. Next time I'll pay more attention 2 the brand name & go with a better known brand rather than price.

Oh, & I'll also toss out there that I've been using computers 4 20 years now, & have been building computers 4 many years, so it's not a case of computer literacy.

I purchased one of these & it went bad after about two months. Unfortunately, I've spent hours trying 2 get Dane-Elec 2 replace it, with no luck. I never get replies 2 notes sent 2 their techsupport e-mail address, & when I call them I always end up in the voice mail of someone who never returns my calls. I'd suggest another manufacturer.
