LaCie F.A. Porsche 320 GB External Hard Drive

I bought this 2 act as a Time Capsule 4 my Mac using Time Machine. I have never had any problems with it. I turn it on in the morning & I turn it off at night. No worries, problems, or frustrations.

I have 2 other LaCie hard drives & they both work flawlessly.

I had tried 2 back up an old computer with Windows ME, but some newer equipment (such as Ethernet card) that is supposedly compatible actually isn't. This drive has connected effortlessly 2 Windows ME, XP, & Vista machines. Remember 2 click "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on taskbar before turning off drive.

Purchased this almost 2 a half years ago & its great. It's still alive today. It's great 4 backing up files, photos, music, & personal home movies. It's compatible 2 both PC/MAC. It's a good practice 2 have a secondary external hard drive so that in case the 1st external hard drive goes bad (unretrival data) you have a 2nd one 2 reply on.

I bought a Lacie 320 six months ago & newer took it out of my office. It worked fine 4 5 months & afterwards it would not mount on any of my computers (MacBook & iBookG4). After trying all sort of things (restarting, formatting etc.) I send it 2 Lacie. Five weeks latter they said they could find any problem on it, but guess what? I still does not mount on any of my computers. If you have a Mac I totally discourage you 2 buy one.

Furthermore, its fan makes an terrible noise. I just can't work with the dawn thing on.

We purchased LaCie 2 back up photo material. After only four months, with gentle use, the drive quit functioning & made a beeping noise. I called the company, they were very familiar with the problem & said the drive is broken & cannot be repaired. Also, the warranty does not cover data recovery, & has stipulations regarding where one can have their data recovered without compromising the warranty. What a disappointment.
