I have 20+ hd movies & some other shows on it & it is showng 68% free still. easy 2 go back 2 internal drive too, all shows were still there & season pass mrg. was intact. would recommend 2 anyone wanting 2 get more storage 4 hd without any hassle's! shipped well packed too.

Great hard drive. Get at least one just 4 backup
This really is a gem. Comes with a SATA-to-eSATA cable-bracket that acts as an adapter 4 computers (like mine) that don't have eSATA. Also includes an eSATA cable, a USB cable, power supply, & a simple, removable stand.
/
>
/
>It only took a couple of minutes 2 install the bracket. Windows XP recognized the drive immediately, I ran a backup successfully (we got this drive exclusively 4 external, removable backup).
/>
/>Also ran a speed test, just copying 1.46GB from the internal drive 2 the new one in 58 seconds.
/
>
/>That was on a computer that had a SATA-II (3Gb/sec) controller. Having bought a second adapter bracket, I installed it on another computer that has just vanilla SATA (1.5Gb/sec), then connected this external drive 2 see what would happen.
/
>
/
>Worked fine, copied 1.57GB from the internal drive 2 the new one in 64 seconds. So, maybe SATA-II is marginally faster than SATA-I, but not enough 2 matter. The important thing 2 me was that the drive works with both kinds of SATA controllers.
/
>
/>Back 2 the drive itself: it is silent & the aluminum case stays cool 2 the touch. I have two other external drives in aluminum cases (one uses USB/Firewire, the other is Network-attached storage), & all of them run cool & quiet.
/
>
/
>At this price & with this speed & ease of use, there's just no excuse 4 not doing frequent offline backups.

Very unstable as an eSATA drive
Bought this drive 2 stream large orchestral music samples. The consistent transfer rate of Firewire was attractive, but I had the option of going 4 the 2GB rate of eSATA, so I bought this drive.
/
>
/>Samples would not stream properly, if they could be found at all. The drive would spin up & spin down every few minutes. Nothing I did & no settings I changed could get this drive 2 work properly as eSATA. I believe 4 a while that it was the problem of Windows Vista, but that turned out 2 not be true.
/>
/>Since that time, I've had 2 use this as just another external USB drive. Not 4 my intended purpose at all. If you need eSATA, I suggest Seagate.

Great Drive
Have had this drive 4 over four months & am very happy with it. First, there were no problems hooking it up 2 an esata card (with my Thinkpad). Was recognized in Vista with no problems also. The drive is quiet (my quieter than my USB seagate) & is very very fast, at least in comparison. Esata is no joke - it's the connection of the future. Makes USB 2.0 look like a floppy drive. I like this drive enough that I'm going 2 get a second.

>Only complaint is the very bright blue light on the front. Some electrical take 2 cover it up & it's fine.

A Great Harddrive!
I bought the Cavalry hard drive in mid-may 2008.
/
>
/>I have never used an external HD in my life. I'm certainly a newbie when it comes 2 hooking up hardware. I bought this based on the few reviews I read. Originally I was going 2 get the Seagate brand HD, but it had too many problems. One of which included overheating units.
/>
/>I am currently using the Cavalry 2 store music & picture files. I use it through my USB hub & it works great. It came pre-formatted, so all I had 2 do was hook it up & my PC automatically recognized it.
/
>
/
>It has a nice design being rectangular, so it fits snugly in with my other hardware I have around the computer. It's black with the Cavalry name in white on the side. One thing I love about this hard drive is its bright power light. It has a medium sized bright blue power light on the front end of the unit, so you know when it's plugged in. It's bright enough 2 light up a dark room, but it is not noticeable during the day or when you have lights on. It has a smaller red light that comes on when moving data 2 & from the hard drive.
/
>
/>Most of the time I forget that it's running. Yes, it is that quiet. The unit always feels tepid cool.
/>
/>The only problem I've had with the hard drive, & I think it's my system or the USB connection, is that when I restart my computer it hangs. Unless I have the hard drive unplugged from the USB hub, my computer won't reboot. Another USB issue is speed, but that's typical 4 a hard drive of this size. Once you plug it in it takes awhile 4 Windows 2 load in the information stored on it.

>Overall, I give this unit 5 stars. It comes with a company warranty which you need 2 register 4 on their homepage. I had 2 contact customer service once with a newbie question & I received an answer in no time at all. I recommend the Cavalry hard drive 4 anyone needing additional computer storage that's dependable.

This SATA 2 USB 2.0 / eSATA unit provides not only SATA 2 USB 2.0 interface, also SATA 2 eSATA interface 2 connect with PC. This unit follows standard SATA specification, which provides 3Gbps throughput 2 reach better data-storage performance.
