Iomega 33721 FireWire 400/USB 2.0 120GB Black Portable Hard Drive

What I really like about this product is the power supply that comes with it. The reason 4 this purchase is due 2 the fact that my laptop is dying a slow death, starting with the sound card & then the USB ports.

I quickly purchased this & plugged it in. No luck. The laptop wasn't giving the HD enough power, so I just plugged in the power supply 2 the HD - voila!

If you need a small external hard drive 4 your laptop that doesn't need external power, look no further. It seemed 2 take a bit long 2 back up my entire laptop, but that may be because of the rpm's of this drive. I had previously backed it up 2 a MyBook & the process went faster.

But, what you lose in speed you make up in portability.

I researched pretty obsessively before I bought this hard drive. I don't use it frequently, but I think it works wonderfully well. I bought it 2 back up my iBook G4 hard drive, & here are my observations:
It's small. It's quiet. It doesn't get hot. It is easy 2 set up... just plug in 2 firewire & turn it on, & there it is on the desktop. It's pretty (I don't mind having it on my desk). And it's very portable should I need 2 pop it into my briefcase & go. While it runs 100% off of my firewire power supply, it also has a place 2 plug in power, should you choose 2 buy a power adapter (go 2 Radio Shack or something?) 2 take the burden off of your computer's power supply.
Like I mentioned, I shopped around obsessively, & decided on this one. I am very very happy with it.

Works perfectly with my PC & give peace of mind. Will hold all my files, including years of digital pictures. Excellent value.

Very versatile peripheral; ideal 4 back-up or in my case great 4 transferring large blocks of data 2 & from different computers.
