GE E1030 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Black)

I needed a pocket digital camera 4 personal, snapshot use, & when I hit Amazon 2 find one they had this one on sale with a memory card. Bottom line: For the price, a great little camera with good features. Obviously, if you need a quick, crisp response time & high end features, you won't find them here. There is a pretty good delay in the "shutter" time, making action shots hard. But, then again, its a pocket digital camera: You get what you pay for. If, however, you just need a good unit 4 taking snapshots, family photos, etc., then this is a good value.

Pros: Sturdy, lightweight, long-lasting proprietary battery, high megapixels 4 a low-end unit
Cons: Power button requires a hard press 2 turn on; delay in shutter snap time, menu graphics are a little cheap

I shopped around 4 months looking 4 a nice dig. camera with high megapixels & a low price. I am traveling 2 Vegas & wanted a nice camera 2 capture the moments.I came across this camera & was impressed with the 10.1 MP picture quality & with its less the $200 price tag. I purchased the camera. I have had the camera 4 about 2 days now & the pictures are absolutely stunning. Loading the pictures onto my PC & the pictures seem 2 jump off the screen. The picture quality I am getting is top notch. Pictures look good in low light or outdoors. The lcd screen is large & very bright. Face detection does not work all of the time but 4 me that is not a big deal. The camera is small enough 2 fit in your pocket but not so small that you feel you are going 2 break it. Couple minor gripes are that the battery has a separate charger & does not come with case. I love this camera. Lot better than the Fuji camera that my wife bought 4 her job. Lots of cool menu options & does not take a rocket scientist 2 figure the camera out. I would highly recommend this camera 2 anyone looking 4 a nice camera 2 take decent pictures with.

I bought this based on the stylish looks & features it offered at a good price including face detection technology & MPEG video.
I was so disappointed at the dreadful quality of the photos I took with this, I went out & took a bunch more.
I took some in daylight, sunlight & using the flash.
While the photos appear bright & colorful, they look almost cartoonish in appearance.
The face detection did not seem 2 offer any improvement & sad 2 say I had 2 return it 2 Amazon.com (who made the process really easy).

I have several digital cameras from 3-7 MP & even my 3MP Canon had better quality than this.
Too bad, because it is a neat camera, well laid out & easy 2 use.
It does not get my approval... the most important thing you expect from a camera is decent prints & it just does not deliver.
