Sanyo Xacti HD1000 4MP MPEG4 High Definition 1080i Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

We've returned this item within three weeks. The picture quality is very poor & unstable. It definately has a big problem with stability. The HD picture is clear but it changes the color all the time while watching the video, it is very disturbing. I do not recommend this product 2 anyone. We bought another HD camcorder & it is great! I love this camera. This is my fourth Xacti (C40-C6-HD700) & now HD1000. I've had it 4 about three months.

Night & day comparison 2 the older models. I only shoot in 1080x720 60fps & I'm extremely pleased. I upload all footage 2 Sony Vegas & render a new mp4 file 4 online places like Motionbox & Viemo.

Does okay at night as well. This shouldn't be compared 2 some JVC high end professional camera.

If you get a good price on this unit I'd go 4 it. I purchased mine new from Amazon @ $450

easy 2 used , clear picture on my sony xbr , this is my first hd camera so 2 me its very good im happy with it , would buy it again & really good price in amazon

This a great portable hd camera. Easy 2 use, good functionality. I can run videos easy & take pictures on the fly. Great product, easy transition of downloading your data 2 pc or connect thru HDMI & stream your videos & pics on an HD TV. Great 4 capturing the moments in life.

I just purchased this unit knowing it was becoming obsolete as far as the model 4 Sanyo. I would have 2 say if you consider the price, functionality, options, quality & size, this is a great deal!

My observations:

1. It is Mac compatible, expect in the "highest" HD movie recording setting. There are plug-ins that allow you 2 playback the video on your Mac, but 4 iMovie you will still have issues importing. The next lower quality (resolution) setting 4 me is still better than my mini-dv tape unit, & works fine with iMovie. I suggest MPEG Streamclip, a free utility 2 help you out.

2. The still camera function is better than I anticipated.

3. Get at least a 8gig SD card. Look 4 sales.

4. I would search the web 4 advice on how best 2 set the camera settings, as well as if you are a Mac user 4 optimal results
