Nero 8 Ultra Edition [OLD VERSION]

I bought it 2 make disc images. It does what it says it does & then some. Lots of other applications that are fun 2 play with. One let me set up a multimedia server that could be seen by my PS3.

Some is a bit technical & there are a lot of options so I would not recommend this 4 a novice user.

Don't buy Nero. If you do, you will surely regret your purchase: If you have any issues with Nero --which you most probably will with this bloatware-- you may expect 2 be variously ignored, jerked around & lied 2 by the company.

I foolishly purchased & downloaded Nero Ultimate, based on my use of previous free versions. The Nero suite was an absolute pig on my system, bringing my PC 2 its microchip knees-- even though my system exceeded their minimum system requirements. And when I tried 2 bear it's excruciatingly long load times, Nero's components were so convoluted & complex that I was never able 2 locate the tasks they claim I needed. Even a Masters Degree in systems science could not help.

When I contacted Nero 4 support --and failing 2 receive that, a refund-- I was ignored & lied 2 4 several weeks. After Nero was sure it was more than 30 days after my purchase, they told me I would "never" get a refund because it was now past the 30-day refund period.

Don't be the fool I was... try something else instead.

So far I am pleased with the product. There are, as usual, positive & negative aspects but the overall quality is as expected. It is unfortunate that you have 2 buy a new product everytime there is a worthwhile improvement, but that is just the nature of the beast.

I got this as it was a requirement 4 another program I use 4 backups & that new fancy junk vista. It is rather bloated & slow. It appears that they are stuffing a lot into it that most people will ever use.

I wish I could roll this back 2 another previous version that was simple 2 operate.

Buy it if you need it, just keep open source software in mind prior 2 purchase as Roxio is no better.

Stay away from this software until Nero learn 2 treat their customers with courtesy & respect. Nero Vision hijacks many, many file associations & creates absolute havoc. They may think it's clever, but it's a real pain that can only be fixed by uninstalling. Look at the forums on this. Like many others, I have uninstalled Nero & will go 2 a supplier with integrity & manners.
