Iomega 33942 eGo USB 2.0 250GB Rugged Portable Hard Drive (Cherry Red)

The hard drive works well but had trouble with software on my old computer as needed more memory 2 do back up & recovery discs

I dropped it twice while it was connected & being used, & I still don't have any problems with it. It's durable, fast, effective, conveniently small & inexpensive. This is by far the best external harddrive I've ever owned.

All portable hard drives are not the same. Once one has whittled down the plethora of external drives on the market using capacity, weight & dimensions as parameters 2 a few suitable competitors, it is left 2 the equally important choices of color & shape.

The internals of the Iomega drive have been described in countless on-line reviews & in computer magazines: they do the job they were designed 4 & quietly too. As 4 the appearance of this unit, color is a hard choice - there are eight of them! Each 2 his own, but as you are reading this review you also found Ruby Red 2 be the most appealing. Factor in its ergonomic pocket friendliness & this is the winner. The quality of the exterior is high & the semi-matt finish does not retain finger marks, so it looks good on ones desk all day long. The unit needs two free USB ports 2 supply the required power & these should be adjacent 2 each other in order 2 use the included cable. If not, a hub or a longer Y-cable will be required.

This hard drive has a sturdy feel & a high quality finish. It is pocket shaped with no sharp edges or corners. This reviewer found no fault in the two months the unit has been in daily use.

I've had this product 4 a little over a month, & have used it probably 10-15 times, both 4 large transfers (over 100 GB) & small, single file transfers. I primarily use it 2 access files between my XP desktop & Vista laptop. The only problem I've encountered is that the drive is not recognized the first time it is plugged into a USB port. I have 2 unplug it & plug it back in before the drive is recognized. I haven't yet encountered any problems with data loss because of this, but only time will tell.

Aesthetically, the drive is a deep, beautiful red with a slightly sandy texture 2 it. It easily fits in my laptop bag, purse, or camera bag, & looks great sitting on my desk.

All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase & would recommend it 2 anyone.

Very satisfied with product. Meets or exceeds my expectations. Only negative from my perspective is color.
