Great 4 non-geeks
This 500 GB external hard drive is excellent 4 those with limited computer knowledge. I was up & running within ten minutes & found it extremely simple 2 connect. Moving data from my desk top hard drive 2 the external hard drive was very simple. It takes up very little space which is a good thing 4 anyone with a messy desk top like mine. I would highly recommend this product.

Fantastic
I bought this 2 use with Time Machine on MAC Leopard.
Having read about other drives & their performance, I chose this as it was a nice compromise. The ones with Firewire 800 ports were a steep jump in price & I did not need this extra performance 4 my normal "home use".
Its very well built & "Made in Japan" which is always a plus when buying electronic items.
I have two macs - both have Firewire 400 as well as USB 2.0 ports, so this was a nice versatile choice.
It was easy 2 set up. Plugging into my new Intel iMac it mounted in a few seconds. It comes pre-formatted in FAT 32 & so can be used by Windows & macs out of the box.
Since Intel Macs & Time Machine need GUID formatting it was then a few quick clicks in Disk Utility 2 partition it & set it up properly.
It is quiet & cool 2 the touch: the aluminium sides dissipate the heat effectively without the need 4 a fan. The other nice thing is that it has auto-power off so the Hard Disk stops spinning when your computer sleeps or shuts down. This is a real bonus since it saves the life of the disc & conserved power.
I comes supplied with high quality USB & Firewire cables it comes supplied so its ready 2 use out of the box.
I would highly recommend this drive 2 anyone.
