Asus Eee PC 4G Surf (7-Inch Display, Intel Mobile Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Pure White

This little PC is super light easy 2 transport. The keyboard takes a little getting used 2 4 touch typing, but once you get the hang of it it's not too bad.

The preloaded Linux OS comes with enough 2 perform all of the basic necessary tasks including browsing the web with feature rich content including Flash animation. It also has all of the standard Linux utilities 2 enable whatever level of customization that is desired within the hard disk size constraints. The default desktop is easy 2 navigate as well even 4 a computer novice.

The wireless works great, I average about 650' (with non-metallic obstructions) from the wireless source with a decent connection. It picked up the nearby networks just fine & connected easily.

For the price this is definitely a great little PC 4 kids or even people that are really on the go & don't want the hassle of larger lap tops.

OMG this is the best thing I've bought in a long time. I love it!

It's lightweigth, it's really fast, good sound, good video playback, with little keyboard (maybe u will need an external one, i use one), long battery life. Really good option 4 mobile work.
The hard part is the hard disk format & installation of XP. I follow the guide, but i must enter 2 some web forums 2 find solutions. The first thing that i had 2 do was restore the linux installation & hard disk. after that the windows installation did finish (previously it shut down without finish it). After that all was rigth.

Love my Asus! Got the 4G in white. I travel once a month 4 business or vacation. I use the Asus 4 simple tasks like checking email, surfing, & light viewing/editing of MS documents. So much easier than lugging my 10+ lb work computer that I have 2 protect with my life. I can just drop the Asus into my purse 4 easy access when traveling. Turn on the Asus, & it's ready 2 go out of the box. No problems connecting 2 the Internet or viewing/editing MS documents. Screen could be bigger; speakers take up space. Keyboard is hard 4 my small hands 2 use. No way 2 easily play DVDs on the plane. I'm just waiting 4 the next generations that have all of the above 4 under $500. For now, this 4G is awesome!

I am an entrepreneur, a writer, a slight computer geek. I also have an extreme need 2 have portable items; I refused 2 purchase a laptop 4 a long time because I couldn't afford the level of technology that I wanted & I couldn't find something portable enough.

However, this purchase is one of the smartest I have made concerning technology in a long, long time.

The only drawback I saw coming was the lack of a cd drive...it has not mattered because any necessary software can be downloaded...or you can simply use an external drive.

I also read many complaints that the wi-fi was difficult 2 use. I found it flawlessly simplistic.

The included programs are more than enough 4 personal, school (I am also a college student working on my accounting degree), & business use. The linux operating system is convenient, & especially important is the absence of the multitudinous Microsoft errors & issues.
