I wanted a small camera 2 take on vacation. Although I've always used Canons, I decided 2 buy the Panasonic based on its great reviews, the Leica lens, & the image stabilization feature.
Well, it certainly is pocket-sized, but since the monitor covers almost the entire back of the camera, it's very easy 2 see what you're doing. The "intelligent auto" mode makes it relatively simple 2 use right out of the box. The camera has lots of nice advanced features, too, some of which take a bit of reading & practice 2 figure out. (I'll be working on that 4 a while.) It does remarkably well in low light, even without tripod or flash. My vacation photos came out crisp & beautiful. Highly recommended!

This is a great, sharp, easy 2 use (after a slight learning curve), uncluttered, & pocketable little camera. I matched it up with a cell phone case & I'm ready 2 go.
Rating: 5 of 5 great camera
This is my third digitalcamera & by far the best. I used it 4 a trip 2 England. It worked beautifully in a wide variety of settings. For the most part I used the "auto-settings" & I got great pictures from closeups 2 distant landscape, indoors in old building lighting 2 bright backlighted outdoors seens 2 low light nighttime indoors. The anti-shake features eliminated any user problems 4 high speed pictures & rapid ready 2 shoot & multiple shot in a row options. The design 4 the memory card & battery in the same slot is well thought out & easy 2 use. I didn't begin 2 scratch the surface of the additional features since the auto-settings worked so well. I have had Sony Cybershot & Olympus Camedia Ultrazoomcameras before & this is by far the best performance & far better value 4 the price at less than $200. I recently had a water mishap with my camera that unfortunately caused my camera 2 die & I immediately replaced it. (taking a full immersion in a canoe mishap is probably more than any digitalcamera is designed 2 handle)
Rating: 5 of 5 Excellent camera!
This camera is the best one of the 4 digitalcameras I've owned. the picture quality is fabulous & it is fast! I would highly reccommend it!
Rating: 5 of 5 Excellent User Friendly Camera
This camera is everything I hoped 4 in a point & click camera. The shutter speed is much faster than the Kodak or the Canon that I tested out in stores. The picture quality is great, the extra features on the camera are awesome, & it is small & lightweight.
Simply set the 10.1-megapixel DMC-FS5 2 iA mode & let the four Intelligent Auto functions team up 2 help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGAOpticalImage Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; & Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus & exposure settings. The 30mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 4xopticalzoom takes wider shots than an ordinary 35mm lens. This is helpful in small rooms or crowded places, 4 example, letting you fit more people into a group photo. There's also an Easy Zoom button on the camera top - just press it, & the opticalzoom & Extra OpticalZoom instantly extend 2 full telescopic position. This quick zooming lets you catch even fleeting opportunities. The brightness & contrast of the large 2.5" diagonal LCD adjust automatically in 10 steps as ambient light conditions change, so images are clear, bright & easy 2 see day or night, indoors or outdoors. f=5.2-20.8mm (35mm Equiv. - 30-120mm) Focal Length 2.5 Diagonal Polycrystalline TFT LCD Display (230K dots) Focusing Area Normal - Wide 50cm/ Tele 100cm - infinity, Macro / Intelligent AUTO - Wide 10cm / Tele 100cm - infinity 8 - 1/2,000 sec.
