Sony DCR-SR65 1MP 40GB Hard Drive Handycam Camcorder with 25x Optical Zoom

This is a great camcorder. Everytime I need electronics the first brand I look 4 is sony & I have never been dissappointed. This Camcorder has great picture & sound quality,and you can't beat the price offered by Amazon so don't bother looking at other sites. It is very easy 2 use & very compact. The hard disk is incredible & the screen is crystal clear. I do recommened buying the bag & battery package also,I did & don't regret it. The battery that comes with the camcorder last 4 about an hour & a half while the battery that comes with the package last around 3 hours.
The only dissappointment I had was that I paid 4 3 day delivery & UPS delivered 4 days after the scheduled delivery date. Amazon did appoligize on UPS's behalf & refunded me the shipping costs. Great customer service on Amazon's part.

I just bought this camcorder. I used sony dcr sr 40 & dcr sr 42 before. I can say that this camcorder is perfect comparing 2 other two. If you want a better one you should buy a high definition camcorder with a higher price. The only cons: you cannot expect 2 take high quality pictures with it. This is a common problem in most of the camcorders.

I bought this camcorder after a lot of research & I'm glad I made the right choice. The only camcorder comparable with SR65 was the JVC MG330 or MG360. JVC 330/360 has less than 1 mega pixels & the price difference between the two was not much & I found it was worth spending on the extra resolution 4 better video quality.

Video Quality : Very Good. I ve taken video Outdoors & Indoors. On burning & playing it on 27 inch flat tube Sony TV, it proves 2 be very close 2 or almost DVD quality, especially 4 outdoor .

Audio Quality : Dolby Digital. Very good sound quality.

Camera Menus : Easy & Intuitive

Ergonomics : Pretty small. Easy 2 handle & buttons are easy reachable.

Still Image : I would not care 2 take still image using this, it s as good as taking pictures on a cell or PDA.

Zoom : 25x is good enough. Anything above that would be difficult 2 hold it steady, unless you would be using a tripod.

As long as you re not looking 2 spend over $800 4 a High-Def quality 4 which you need 2 have High-Def LCD, High-Def burner, HDMI & the entire package, this camera is just perfect 4 the low $500 range.

I have tried it at a local store. After recording, I heard loud noise sounding like "click, click" in the video. Although other features are OK, I could not bear such kind of noise. It drove me crazy. So I did not buy this camcorder.
