JVC Everio GZ-MG360 60GB Hard Drive Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom

I will say that the video quality at the highest setting is very good. I also purchased the largest additional battery that was available & i am not diappointed with that either. I have shot over 30 hours of video so far & the quality is pretty good. The camera is light weight & easy 2 hold 4 long periods of time with no problems, which is a huge plus. The menu is easy 2 navigate 2 make any adjustments.



What does disapoint me is that i have had several drop detection errors occur when i was filming, even when i was not moving my hand. I do have a professional camera mount kit 4 my car & when i film inside the car (mounted on the dash) at high speeds & high g forces (think of how the car leans around a turn) the camera is fine. But once i take it outside the car even at speeds around 60mph & no turns, i get camera errors such as hard drive issues, I happened when i wasn't even going over 30mph. I also found that the editing software is very poor. I went ahead & ordered the recomended software upgrade from jvc, Cyberlink power director V6. I find that windows movie maker does a pretty good job, but it won't import the files from the camera.

overall, if you don't want 2 edit & want too keep it simple, buy this camera. If you are looking 4 something a step better i wouldn't recomend this camera. I personally would not buy it again.

I wanted something light & compact 2 record my son's soccer games & birthdays, family events, etc. While this would probably be fine 4 the other events, it was very poor quality 4 the fast-moving soccer game. It was okay when holding still, but following the players was pretty much a blur & the still shots so far at any distance are VERY poor, I'm pretty disappointed after researching & being so excited 2 get this model. Great price at Costco, however ours is going back. I was unable 2 change the recording mode from the default, which won't publish 2 the web as far as I can tell, which is highly disappointing. The tutorial is very limited & the software not much more of a help. Pretty disappointed all around.

I bought this over other brands because it was small & compact, yet easyto use. I looked at the Sony equivilant, & the only difference I found was price, & looks. Also sony still uses a different memory card oppose 2 SD. Sony was a few hundred dollars more, & it was bulky, too big 2 put in pocket or purse. On the other hand, JVC Everio is compact & easy 2 use.

I've recorded probably just 10 hours with the camera, & I am pleased with my purchase of this camera. My wife & I were expecting our first baby (who was born 7/9/08), & I had done quite a bit of research before deciding 2 but this particular model. I "test drove" several different brands & models by JVC, & decided that the Everio was the route I wanted 2 go. The good things about this camera that I've noticed thus far are the battery life, the massive 60 GB hard drive, the built-in light, the size, & definitely the price. There are points that I would like 2 warn folks about. The video & audio recording quality is decent, but not exceptional. If you are looking 4 a camera based upon purely video & audio quality, you might want 2 look at something else. The video files are shot with proprietary files with a .MOD extension. Although file extensions & video files are relatively simple 2 convert, you can't just drag & drop the .MOD files in most applications. The software that is bundled with the camera will convert the files 2 any type that you want, but this is just another step or another application that you must go through 2 burn your movies via PC. I haven't yet got the direct burn stations that JVC markets, but I am willing 2 try them just 2 make it a bit easier 2 get my movies on DVDs. For the most part, 2 view our movies, we hook the camera directly up 2 the TV...which works very well 4 quick video showings.

All in all, 4 my entry level camcorder & the way in which we will use this camera, I am happy that I chose this model (Everio GZ-MG360). I hope my little review will help...because I know how nerve-racking shopping 4 a camcorder can be!

It is a very light & small camcorder. It records 4 a long time. It records 4 14 hours at the best quality. It looks cool. The external light is very useful. Video quality is good, not too great but very good. Three JVC software comes with this product, a DVD-CD authoring software a video editing software & a video-computer link software. They are all easy & fun 2 use. Don't worry about the still pictures. Get this & get a tiny camera 2 go with it. This camcorder is so small that you probably can fit this camcorder & a good camera in a small bag. I did it & it worked out fine. I used this camcorder 2 record a family vacation & I am pleased with the result.
