This Nikon product looks cool but only from outside. The image quality is really poor 4 a 10MP resolution. My 4 MP Fuji takes way better pics.
Day & night mode are equally bad. I will not recommend this 2 anyone.
Rating: 2 of 5 Not so good
I have been a Nikon user 4 years. This camera was 2 replace my Coolpix 3700, which is about 5 years old. After snapping a few shots right out of the box & seeing them on my laptop I was a little weary about this. Then I compared it with my 3700 (3.2MP) vs the 10MP of this & there is noticeable difference; this one make worse pictures. The features are great, but overall quality of the construction is inferior & picture quality is inferior.
I have read a lot of reviews & based on that chose this camera over the Canon SD770. Beware, when you are reading reviews make sure it isn't from someone who has never owned a point-and-shoot, like most people on circuit city's reviews.
Rating: 2 of 5 A HUGE disappointment
I am hugely disappointed with this camera. I was looking 4 a simple point & shoot that was small enough 2 go anywhere & as far as that goes it's great. However, most of my pictures are not sharp. Auto focus is ON & lately I've left it on full-time flash but my pics still turn out less than great. It's really annoying me because my older Canon digitalcamera (with way less megapixels) takes better photos. Overall, I would NOT buy this camera again...I like my pics sharp & in focus!
Rating: 1 of 5 Terrible
I've been a frequent user of digitalcameras, & this is by far the hardest 2 use. The interface 4 both taking pictures & accessing them on the computer is so awful that I've resigned myself 2 going back 2 my prior digitalcamera. They just don't get Design like other consumer electronics companies. I've had much more luck with Sony products.
Rating: 4 of 5 Great Point & Shoot
I bought this camera because my Sony Syber-shot was broken first the flash went & then I dropped it in the pool so it was time 2 get a new camera. I didn't want 2 spend that much so I went with the Nikon as they were running a rebate sale. So far I have had no issues but it's only been a month that I had the camera. Love the video portion, big screen & the closer view on regular photos. It's a great every day camera that you can leave in your pocketbook. I'm glad I purchased this camera.
Be it 4 movie or still images, the thin NikonCoolpixS550 offers an enthralling experience with pictures of incredibly fine detail. Sleek, easy 2 use, the S550 has image stabilization & a long 5xzoom range. Go 4 CoolpixS550. It makes sense.
