Super product thus far. Meets my needs perfectly 4 storing images & videos. Only problem was the cable was not very long (about 18"). I needed something longer, since my CPU tower is stored below the desktop credenza heighth in a cabinet, & I wanted 2 be able 2 set the HD on the desk, next 2 the desktop unit. Called Simpletech & finally was able 2 speak 2 a live person (after a phone call & voice message left with no response 4 days & two unanswered emails...all this after registering warranty online). Simpletech said they did not provide a longer cable with it, because it had been their experience that a longer cable would not power the device without having 2 use a separate power adaptor. They don't sell one as an accessory. I managed 2 find one (and this type of cable was hard 2 find) that is almost 3' long, perfect 4 my setup, & it works perfectly. Still use only the power/data Type A connection & do not have 2 use the additional second power connect much less a separate power adapter. Great product!

I was getting rid of my desktop computer as I was moving 2 overseas, so naturally I needed a storage device 2 temporally store my data just till I have purchased a new one. It took me about a month 2 settle down in the new country & buy a new desktop. Believe it or not, as I was about 2 transfer data 2 the new computer, the drive failed. I can hear the drive running, but the computer won't recognize the drive at all. I've tried it on multiple computers & none recognized the drive. I'll have 2 take it 2 a data recovery shop 2 retrieve the data. I am very disappointed with the product. All I needed was a month 4 it 2 work.

I bought one of these, used it 3 times & it stopped working. Won't connect 2 my computer anymore which is great because I have some songs on there I backed up, but can't get 2 now. Not too cool having a back up drive that fails. Well it has a warranty right, but fabrik will not return my emails, called & was on hold 4 30 mins. These guys are lame. Don't go 4 the cool looking drive, get a good one instead.

This item never worked. I tried it on several computers, & all ports on those computers. I couldn't get any of them 2 recognize the device & the device just flashed a red light & beeped when plugged in 2 any of the USB ports.

I also have a WD passport & use it constantly & love it, highly recommend. I'm taking this one back & getting another WD.

The drive is flawless & works well. The issue I have is with the ArcSoft backup software. It's very basic & doesn't really give you a lot of options.
