Norton 360 Version 2.0

Norton has unilatterally determined that "they know best" & when you try 2 optimize your disk, it WILL NOT optimize them unless NORTON thinks they need 2 be optimized. Even 7% fragmentation does not reach the "magic threshold".

I chated 4 over 1 hour with Norton Support (an oxymoron) & was told that I should just use Windows Defrag because 360 would only defrag when IT wanted to.

Systemworks is a GREAT product - could run SpeedDisk & even at 7% fragmentation you could speedup your computer by running the utility.

I guess Norton thinks that every single computer user now-a-days is "computer illeteriate", & that they need 2 FULLY AUTOMATE EVERYTHING.

Bottom line - if you have Systemworks, stick with it & use one of the free antivirus products.

BTW - don't even think of trying 2 combine SystemWorks with Norton Internet Security - in Norton's great wisdom they won't let you install them if the other one is installed.

I sometimes feel I need two computers. One 2 do work on. The other 2 entertain itself by downloading Microsoft patches & virus scanning. When I log into my computer, it takes generally 10 2 15 minutes of Norton 360 doing its own virus scanning (which you do not have the power 2 stop -- you can't even kill the process in the Task Manager). It used 2 take me under a minute 2 boot up.

Theoretically, I can still use the computer during this time, but opening a browser is a 6 2 7 minute process. If Norton 360 would give you the option at bootup 2 do a virus scan or not, the product would be great. Unfortunately, I usually turn on my computer because I want 2 do something, not because I feel like virus scanning 4 the next 15 minutes.

I have been an avid Norton Symantec user 4 over 13 years. This is the worst product EVER. It slows your system down so much that I had 2 disable most of the features, which an average user will not know how 2 do.

My biggest complaint is that once the "virus update" expires.. it renders the entire software useless. I couldn't even go in & make simple changes 2 the settings, nothing 2 do with the virus update feature. PLUS A pop-up comes up everyday twice a day begging me 2 buy another year subscription. That is false. What they are really asking is that I buy the software again. Once a year is up .. you might as well throw it in the trash OR give it 2 someone else OR wipe your hard drive & install a fresh copy.

I am not happy with it at all! I will never buy any anti-virus or internet security software from this company again. I have heard of complaints that it will crash your system the day it expires.

Uninstalling any Norton products are difficult & you should find a good article on the internet on how 2 do this. NOTE: You must uninstall any anti-virus software if you are installing a different brand.

I have use norton 4 years, but they got it right this time! With a touch or a botton my computer is not only virus free spyware free but it speeds up the disks too. It work in the background if you want & you dont have 2 touch it or you can be proactive with it too.

This product has slowed my computer down 2 a crawl, & has caused programs 2 remain in task manager after exiting. (I have a relatively new dual processor machine with 2 gb of RAM.) Furthermore, Norton says that this software can be installed on up 2 3 PCs. However, when I try 2 activate it, I get a message that the second machine where it is loaded has exceeded the number of allowable installations. When I look up my account on the Norton site, it says that I can have the software on up 2 three machines. To fix this problem, I have 2 find my proof of purchase, mail in a form & the receipt, & they will get back 2 me in three weeks after deciding if I have exceeded the installations. What am I supposed 2 do 4 virus protection until then? This product is a class action lawsuit waiting 2 happen. I'm switching 2 McAfee forever.
