Western Digital WDMERC3200TN 320GB My Passport Essential 2.5IN (Cherry Red)

I bought one of these babies a month & a half ago & am not all that pleased. I have several machines that I routinely move information from/to & back up. I needed a reliable & portable solution. I've had several problems with some of my machines ingesting this drive & so am concerned about long-term reliability. If you're considering a disk like this, review all alternatives first!

I consider myself 2 be very knowledgeable about electronics & computers so I was a little annoyed that I couldn't figure out how 2 get this 2 work with Vista. My plan was 2 back up all my photos on the external hard drive before I send my PC in 2 get downgraded 2 XP. I spent 2 hours trying 2 get this 2 work but all I could figure out was how 2 install their Google Desktop (spyware) software & back up emails & documents that were sent & received with Outlook, a program I don't use. I gave up after talking 2 tech support 4 1/2 an hour.

On the other hand, I plugged this into my iMac & it works beautifully! No setup, no spyware, no worries.
