Adobe Acrobat Professional 9

I'm that guy in the office that always downloads the betas, always been willing 2 take a risk 2 try out the newest software, so I've been through a litany of nightmares when it comes 2 new programs & their inherent bugs. That being said, I have 2 say that Acrobat Pro 9 has never given me one bit of trouble. I upgraded from 6 2 9 so I could take advantage of the LifeCycle Designer 2 design forms 4 my company. Installation went smooth, & it's never given me any trouble. I recently upgraded 2 Office 2007, & both programs continue 2 function perfectly, separately & jointly. I always hate 2 see other have problems with their software (there are just so many better ways 2 waste time), & everyone is certainly entitled 2 their own opinion, but I have give this one a thumbs up.

If there was a prize 4 the Worst Software in 25 years, Acrobat would get my vote. I am now waiting 4 a repair/reinstall 2 finish - 64 minutes on a Quad-Core processor with WD Raptors. Truly insane.

I produce a small monthly magazine & I could say a lot about this product but bottom line, it works great & does exactly what it's advertised 2 do.

I have 2 use acrobat professional 4 my job. I have been using version 8.1.2 4 the last year. I decided 2 upgrade 2 9.0 because I had 2 get a third license. Acrobat only let's you install each package on two computers. I bought a third computer & instead of activating & deactivating a license each time I switch computers I decided 2 buy an additional package. What ticks me off about 9.0 is that it cost more than I paid 4 8.1.2, but it seems 2 be the same package. The menus look the same & the software does essentially the same. I have yet 2 see a difference in my day 2 day work. If you are a user who uses the main functions of the software only, then you might reconsider upgrading. The software does not add any functionality. That aside, $499 4 the package is a stiff price & results more from Adobe's monopoly position 4 this kind of software than from the quality & functionality of the product.

I bought this at school at the student price (about a quarter of the price) & really, if I wanted acrobat, they only offer pro. That being said, I am not totally aware of all the various things that pro will do compared 2 the other versions, however, it has been great 4 me so far. My professors pass everything out as pdf files. Sometimes they allow comments, sometimes not. Anyways, I use it so I can write, comment, highlight, add bookmarks, remove any security they have added, amongst other things. Anyways, thus far I have had zero problems. I actually greatly enjoy the interface. It allows 4 toolbar customizations which help tailor it 2 my style & likings. All in all, it has been great. Like I said, I have not had the same issues as the other reviewers, but that is likely because I am using it 4 different reasons. If I had 2 pay full price, I would have purchased the regular edition. If I did in fact pay 4 the pro, I would make sure I knew how 2 use the whole program though. I hope this helps.
