This camera is my first DSLR & I am satisfied. A couple of draw backs though & they are a weak flash if subject is more than 15 feet away & the auto focus is terrible if the lighting is not great.

When I decided 2 purchase an entry level DSLR, I decided upon the Olympus E520 over the Canon Rebel XSi & Nikon D40,D60,D80.

The price was great 4 such a feature packed product, & I really liked the layout of all the information. Olympus gives you 3 ways 2 access all the essentials (ISO, White Balance, Auto/Manual Focus mode, etc) & much more (Saturation, Sharpness, Face Detection, etc.)

All in all, it's a great camera & I'm happy with all my results so far.

My camera's Compact Flash drive slot came damaged. Almost half the pins are bent, thus the camera's ability 2 not read a CF memory card. Very disappointed in this "new" item arriving damaged.

When you have superzoom cams like the Panaonic FZ-28 with a zoom from 28-476mm 4 only $262 why would you go with a DSLR that will become obselete in a year?

I have a system film Nikon but in the flux of e cameras it seems 2 be almost a throw away 2 me.
