MyDVD Video Lab 10

Buy some good fireworks instead. Might as well burn your money. Horrible software...that simple. Extremely slow. A simple slideshow takes 4 ever 2 render. You would think it was rendering hi-def CGi 4 Matrix movie. The preview takes 4 ever 2 assemble. The installation takes 4 ever & crashed on me twice. Poorly coded. I wouldn't have given it one star except I had 2 in order 2 submit my review.

This is a handy program with features enough 4 anyone who wants 2 do some serious editing on their home productions. Learning curve is low & anyone who has worked with any other DVD authoring system will take 2 it like a duck in water. Has some very nice transition effects & some handy pre-programmed pan-and-zoom edits (yes, you can still define your own pan-and-zoom paths, too). Only 3 quibbles: 1. You make all your edits in one application (VideoWave), but then have 2 go 2 a separate app (MyDVD) 2 author your menu & burn your product. 2- It would be easier 2 do all your audio fades right on the timeline-- but you have 2 dbl-click the audio portion 2 do a separate fade edit--kind of awkward 4 precision cuts 3. To set chapters in your DVD production, you have 2 set "markers" in Video wave--then you go 2 MyDVD--then you right click on the production you made in Video wave- then you select "Edit Movie"-- which then goes back 2 Video Wave-- then you rt-click the markers & select "set as Chapter"--then you return 2 MyDVD. WHEW!!! Confusing, huh?? You'll never figure that one out on your own!! But, all in all, a great deal 4 the price (and it STILL beats the heck out of Adobe Premiere Elements!!)

I can't speak 2 the quality of the product because I couldn't install it. When the installation failed, I went 2 the support page, & there were detailed instructions how 2 remove any traces of past Roxio products (including a registry edit!), it was about 15 steps. I did all the steps (twice), & still couldn't install. I will say the fix did make it hang in a different place in the installation process. I am fairly computer savvy & have NEVER not been able 2 install a piece of software. I'd stay away.... far away from this product.
