Awesome camera! I haven't played around with everything yet, but it is an awesome camera. A little pricey. I would wait until the price comes down first.
Rating: 5 of 5 One of the best
This camera was a gift 4 my brother & yes a great choice.I own the canon 870is & it is too a great camera. My brother is in a band & he wanted 2 take pictures & blow them up so me owning a canon & knowing what great cameras they are I thought the 14.7 mega pixels would be just what he would need.I would recomend this camera 2 any one who loves 2 take great pictures.Read the owners manual & learn how 2 really use it,you will be supprised how good a picture could turn out when the camera is on the right settings.
Rating: 5 of 5 From A70 2 SD990 IS
I purchased a CanonPowershot SD990 IS camera after my five-year old Powershot A70 died due 2 a sensor failure. (Even though the camera is long out of warranty, if I return it 2 Canon, they will replace the sensor.)
Shutter Lag was a major problem with A70. The SD990 IS appears 2 have none.
Low-light photographs with the A70 were always blurred because of camera motion. The image stabilization & the ISO 3200 setting of the SD990 IS produce low-light images with no blur.
The sensor of the SD990 IS is a 1/1.7" CCD (7.60 x 5.70 mm, 0.43 sq cm); the A70 sensor is 1/2.7" (5.27 x 3.96 mm, 0.21 sq cm)
The LCD of the SD990 IS is larger & much brighter.
Videos from the SD990 IS look good. If I wanted HD video, I would buy a video camera.
The A70 used four AA batteries; the SD990 IS uses one small NB-5L battery pack.
The SD990 IS is smaller & lighter -- 182 gm vs. 320 gm.
The SD990 IS has not experienced the e18 error or the "lens error, restart camera". Neither did the A70 in spite of being dropped on a concrete floor from a height of three feet.
Bottom Line - I am happy with the SD990 IS & think it is worth the price.
Rating: 2 of 5 like my old camera better
maybe i dont know how 2 use it. but i had sony cybershot works way better. i like canon cause it take faster pictures. & better pictures at darker place. it auto adjust the color better than sony. but my sony was a touch screen. when i use manuel i can actsually point 2 where i want 2 focus on the screen with macro or not & it will focus exactlly where i wanted 2 focus on. so i decied.. i'll just buy a cheaper canon 4 now till my husband bring my old camera back from iraq. hope this review helps...
Rating: 5 of 5 Powershot 990IS is Superb
I have had several digitalcameras, & next 2 my Nikon D80, this is the best I have had. I am still learning all it can do. reload time is short, it takes nice movie clips, has intuitive controls & a nice feel in the hand. Pictures at the high resolution levels are great & can be blown up 2 poster size with no loss of detail.
The price was right, the vendor sent exactly what was ordered, & i am very satsified.
