Good things come in small packages!
I can only add a few things 2 the many good things already said.

This is a sweet laptop. But if you are used 2 large screens - 4 instance I have a 24" LCD monitor 4 my desktop, & a 17" LCD screen on my (heavy! & large!) laptop, both with 1920x1200 pixels - the 1024x600 resolution will seem mighty cramped at first. I wish it were just a tad larger, say 1280x800, but...I'd have 2 get a 12.1" 4 that, & none seem 2 have the combination of features that this little jewel has. I am learning 2 pop up just one screen up at a time, & 2 maximize them. This has not proved 2 be a serious deficiency yet 4 business & programming use.

The overall construction, fit & finish is great. The LCD screen although small is very viewable with much less fading out from an angle than many other laptops. The built-in camera & microphone work well (Oovoo is great 4 3-way or more teleconferences). Sound quality is better than what you'd expect 4 a netbook this size. The two-finger control 4 the pad 4 scrolling & re-sizing is very useful although I still pack a mouse. The buttons on the pad work well when one presses them from the front where your thumb naturally lies when using the pad, rather than trying 2 press them from above. And the misplacement of the shift key on the right is not an issue 4 me as I always have used only the left shift key. Battery life is consistently reported at near 5 hours, not the 7 hours they claim, but I have yet 2 try it out 4 even that long.

Overall this is a great value 4 the money, if you can live with the small, limited resolution screen. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if anything happened 2 mine, but I wish they'd make a just slightly larger 12.1" version!

Eee PC 100HA = Perfect
I was looking 4 a small & light laptop. I could use my mother in law eee pc 901 4 2 weeks & I realized that an eee pc was what I need.

Pros:
-The 10 inch screen is the perfect size 4 an ultra portable PC. It really make a difference when you compare the 1000HA with the 901.
-The keyboard is bigger & better than the 901, but the right Shift Key is still painful.
-Getting the Hard drive with 160 Gb is really a plus, you don't run out of space. You lost a little of speed when you compare it with the 901 & her 20 Gb solid state disk, but the extra space worth it.
-I don't need the 802.11n & the bluetooth, so I prefer 2 get this model than the the one that have this features.
-It is really easy 2 upgrade the memory.

Cons:
-The Right shift Key

Other thoughts:
If you really need a DVD Drive, you have 3 options:
1) Buy an external one. Cons: You lost in mobility.
2) If you have a network in your house or work place, just share your Desktop DVD drive. Cons: almost anyone in the network could access your DVD drive.
3) Install a Virtual DVD Drive emulator on your eee pc (there are a couple free on the internet), & now you can open an ISO image of your DVD. Cons: you have 2 make an ISO copy of any DVD that you want 2 open & copy it 2 your eee pc.

Rocks with Linux
I first purchased a Eee PC 900 w/Linux. The hardware was impressive but the versions of the software was dated. That didn't matter too much 4 a part time use as a portable web browser, email, IM & writing machine. But I'm a developer so I need more in every way 4 it 2 be a full time machine.

This led me 2 the Eee PC 1000HA. Its a very nice hardware. The specs at Asus describe the machine well. Beyond that: the graphics card pushes a 1680x1050 external monitor nicely. The CPU is dual core. The drive is the same speed as the bigger desk top models. The only hardware drawback is that I was spoiled by the preceeding machine's memory speeds, an XPC with AMD's super fast 64-bit bus.

Asus doesn't offer the 1000HA with Linux. I don't know what they're thinking here. I'm forced 2 buy yet another Windows license that will never be used. I've installed Gentoo Linux. It works very well.

The XPC becomes a server, the Eee PC 900 sold quickly & the Eee PC 1000HA becomes my every day development machine that I transport with ease. My development tasks require Postgres, MySQL, XMPP, C++, PHP, Javascript, XSLT, Apache.

I like the machine enough that I've purchased two more 4 my wife & two kids. They tell me Firefox, Flash games, Thunderbird & Jabber run well. They're only requirement was 2 remove Windows.

Lastly, my power bill is reduced because they sip electricity compared 2 a desktop machine.

Very satisfied!!!
I bought this 4 an upcoming trip. So far have loaded all my software on 2 this compact netbook & everything is running fine (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Skype, MSN, Yahoo, Live Mail).

This computer boots up & shuts down FAST. 160GB is plenty so far. The keyboard is very compact which is good since this netbook is very portable. I'd recommend an external mouse since it is difficult 4 larger hands 2 hit the touchpad buttons easily.

Would recommend this product!!

Fabulous machine!
If you want a do-it-all package that is very portable, then get this machine. It is a must.

I bought this machine because I needed a new laptop & wanted something that was very portable. I opted 4 the 10" screen & the 6 cell battery because of recommendations from other reviews. I am not regretting the choices.

This thing is fabulous! It does everything they claim & more. The size does not get in the way, & the keyboard is hardly smaller than normal so it is very easy 2 use. The screen is big enough, but I must confess when I go back 2 my 15" Dell, I hear the theme from 2001 A Space Odyssey in my head. ;)

Speed in booting is very good. Conectivity is very good too. It can automatically connect 2 any wifi it has been connected 2 in the past as it is in range. In other words, it can & does hand off 2 the strongest signal it can find as you move. A handy feature when you are a passenger in a car & there are lots of hotspots along the way. I bought an external antenna 4 use with my larger laptop & it worked well, however this mini-laptop has better ability 2 bring in the signals. Case in point: I am using a wifi signal that the other machine - external antenna & all - cannot even detect.

As 4 the lack of bluetooth I use the USB device I have had 4 some time so no loss there over the other model. If I ever find I need wirelss N, I can get the external USB card too - so no worries.

I thought I would miss a drive on this thing but so far I don't - surprisingly. Anything I need I transfer with an USB drive or download from the 'net & all is fine. (With the exception of not being able 2 play movies well, so far... I just need 2 find better playback software.)

It works well with Skype & can multitask well. It is a good all-round portable machine.

The SD card adapter is more convenient than I ever thought it would be. The USB ports are fast & handy as heck. I no longer have 2 bring a hub with me. It is virtually an all inclusive machine 4 me, just what I wanted, it has enough built-ins & ports 2 do everything I need on the go without lugging a rat's nest of add-ons.

Now 4 the negatives;(I have 2 nit-pick 2 find any) I find it stutters a bit playing back movies recorded in AVI format. I suppose it must be the player software as my older, much slower machine plays them effortlessly. I'll post a comment if I find out what works 4 them. I watch Netflix movies on it daily, & that works beautifully! The idea is that I like 2 take DVD movies with me sometimes & without an internal DVD drive, I need 2 record them in digital memory 2 play them back on this machine. I have 2 find a good, smooth playing format, that won't eat-up the entire hard disk if I am going 2 do that. I simply hate jittery video. Also, the speakers are sometimes hard 2 hear with lower sound levels, but that is what headphones are for. Besides, what do you expect from tiny little speakers on a laptop? Well, these sound pretty good, just not all that loud sometimes (depending on source levels).

Also, the disk drive shows two partions at 80g & 60g that does not add up 2 160 so I am wondering. Nothing 2 be alarmed about there is plenty of space. Also, the screen is a little short: as in it has less vertical space than I would like. Too many bars on the web browser & you need 2 scroll down just 2 see anything. A minor annoyance, but I suppose one must compromise somewhere. The case (in ebony) is a fingerprint magnet. I don't mind, I just clean it a lot then. Also, the buttons on the mouse pad are a lot stiffer than any others I have ever used, but one can get used 2 it. As usual 4 me, there are too many features on the mouse pad & the keyboard: one fumble & you've done something weird. I wish I could turn off a feature or two on that mouse pad, but that's just the way I look at things. I want it 2 do what I am telling it rather than what it thinks I want it 2 do.

Conclusion:
All in all I can't really fault the machine. I've been using it 4 about a month now, every day, & it has never disappointed me. I've never been able 2 say that before, in my 33 years of computer use. Hence the five stars.
